INT. STUDY ROOM - NIGHT
Shown on the wall are newspaper articles that have bold titles and pictures. The first newspaper has a picture of a full forest. The second newspaper has the same area with fewer trees. The third newspaper shows the last tree in the area being approved to be cut down. The fourth newspaper shows that birds are dead on the floor in the same area, and the fifth and final newspaper shows the same area with a new building being built. On the floor is a bin that is full with scrunched up and ripped paper that is covered in abandoned draft designs. The paper shows different types of clocks used.
Title is shown 'horologium arborium (time of trees)'
A MAN sits at his desk with a pile of books by his feet. The titles read on the books ‘Dendrology – Science of Trees’, ‘What Are Trees?’, ’Engineering’, ‘Dendrochronology – Study of Tree Rings’, ‘Horology-Study of Time’ and ‘Trees of the World’.
He slams the book shut and moves his hand from the front cover. The title reads ‘When We Still Had Trees'
The MAN stands up, walks over to a drawer and opens it to a selection of hourglasses. The row shows different hourglasses that have been tested, he chooses the last hourglass that hasn't been used which has the sand up the top.
He goes back to his desk, sits down and places the hourglass on the table. As he grabs a tool to connect the hourglass to the seed, the sand begins to rise up. The MAN goes to grab the hourglass and stops before he reaches it. He notices the sand in the hourglass move up. He grabs the hourglass between his thumb and index and witnesses the sand in the hourglass move. He turns the hourglass back around and connects it to the seed. The MAN holds it up, It is complete.
EXT. OUTSIDE - DAY
The MAN goes outside and puts the seed on the ground. He turns the hourglass which makes the sand sit at the bottom and steps back, the sands of time begin to rise from the bottom to the top. The seed opens, it reveals clock works and mechanical bits, which turn and rise up until it completes a mechanical tree.
MAN
FADE TO BLACK.

His note book is open to the ‘missing piece’ page; it shows the design of a seed, on his desk next to his note book there is a mechanical seed that looks the same as the drawn seed in his note book. There is a drawn hourglass that has an arrow point to it with a question mark.
The MAN stands up, walks over to a drawer and opens it to a selection of hourglasses. The row shows different hourglasses that have been tested, he chooses the last hourglass that hasn't been used which has the sand up the top.

The seed opens, it reveals clock works and mechanical bits, which turn and rise up until it completes a mechanical tree.
The MAN walks over and places his hand on the mechanical tree.
