Treatment so far.

In a world where there are no trees, only man made buildings and structures exist that have no meaning, birds lie dead on the floor, a man sits at his desk with a pile of books by his feet. The titles read ‘Dendrology – Science of Trees’, ‘What Are Trees?’, ’Engineering’, ‘Dendrochronology – Study of Tree Rings’, ‘Horology-Study of Time’ and ‘Trees of the World’. On his desk he has open books, pictures and notes, lit by candle light. He finishes writing ‘The Last Piece’ next to the design title. He moves his hand over to a book and flicks a few pages. He stops on a picture of a tree and smooths his hand over it, and says “beautiful”. He slams the book shut and moves his hand from the front cover, the title reads ‘When We Still Had Trees, Published Year 2713’. The man blows the candle out – Black.
The man works at his desk with bits of old clocks, cogs and tools. He flicks a page in his note book until he gets to the ‘Final Piece’ page; it shows the design of a seed and has a drawing of an hour glass that has an arrow pointing to it. The man goes over to a drawer and opens it to a selection of hour glasses. He chooses the right one which has the sand sitting up the top where the other hour glasses have the sand at the bottom. He goes back to his desk, and grabs a tool and connects the hour glass to the seed. Once he finishes he goes outside and puts the seed on the ground. He turns the hour glass which makes the sand sit at the bottom and steps back, the sands of time begin to rise from the bottom to the top, once it finishes the seed opens, revealing clock works and mechanical bits, which turn and rise up until it completes a mechanical tree. The man walks over and places his hand on the mechanical tree and says “beautiful”. FADE TO BLACK.




In class today Darren went around and spoke to everyone about their animations. When he got to me i explained that i wasnt to sure how to explain why there are no trees in this world. I also said that i did some research to see if there was a time in history that we didnt have any trees. I found out that there was a time where there were no trees and it was on Easter Island. For on it didnt have many trees already there and two the people there cut the trees down to use for moving there statues and using the wood for fires etc...
ANYWAY... there society got destroyed because there were no more trees, so that means no more animals, no more food, cant make houses, cant make boats. Only rats lived in the area and im pretty sure the people of Easter Island didnt want to eat rats, so instead they ate other humans...ewwwzz.

So from doing this i thought of a few things that i cant put in my animation. But i was also told by Jack that maybe i need something at the beginning of my animation to either tell or show why are there no trees? I thought of newspaper clippings with headlines "MAYOR DECIDES TO CUT LAST TREE DOWN FOR FUEL"(something like that) but newspaper is made out of trees... annoying. The other thing i can think of is date the newspaper a few years before. I have a lot to think about..
Also thinking about the books and note book he uses, its made out of paper!! PAPER=TREES!!!
So im a little stuck, do i keep them as paper or some kind of metal sheets???

Week One!

And so we are back! Final year and trying to figure out what i want to do for my animation.
I've mostly been thinking about it and i only have two ideas to choose from.
my first idea was about a death unicorn and my second idea is about a world where there are no trees and a man creates one out of machine.
So i decided to go with the tree one. I have been working on the Premise, Synopsis and Treatment, mostly figuring out what i should keep and what i should change. My idea has changed a bit and I have moved things around.

I'm still figuring out things and hoping i get the treatment i like. What i need to do is break it down into a Beginning, Middle and End and hopefully that will help me.
I'm also thinking of having a narrator over mine but still thinking about it because i dont really have any words for it.
After i figure out my final treatment i will be writing up a draft script of the actions then i will create another script just for the narrator and combine them together and hope something will work out.
